Party Party
Yes folks. It's party time. I had a party at home for one of the girls from work. She is leaving to go back home to Germany. She has been with us for about 4 months and she is a really nice person. Her English was very good so it wasn't too difficult to communicate with her. Sometimes when we get people from abroad thie English is not great and they feel unwanted and left out of things. But this is the deal. they come over to the Nursery to volunteer their work AND to improve their language skills.
Anyway, back to the party. My wife and I made some really nice traditional Irish dishes for our guests. Including Beef & Guinness stew which went down really well with all the carnivores. As for the vegetarians I made up a couple of dishes. Would you believe it. That was the only dishes that were not finished by the end of the night. Maybe they weren't hungry. I know it wasn't my food or my wifes food. If it was, feck them. They won't be coming back to my place. Only carnivores in future. People who eat REAL food. That's it. Ungrateful so and so's. I better calm my self down a bit. Some of my best friends are veggies. In fact one of then is a vegan. That means at least 27.3 cows are going to be safe in their lifetime.
All in all, I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Judging by the drink that wasn't left afterwards.
Moving on a bit. A few weeks ago I started a new pastime.
I actually started to play bowls. Indoor bowls at that.
It all started before I went to Canada. I was invited by a member of the Abbey Bowling Club to come along and see what goes on. I went. I saw. I bowled. Yes. I only went to look and as soon as the names were exchanged I was put on a team and handed a set of bowls by this man that I have never seen in my life. I offered them back to him at the end of the night. He refused my offer. He told me to keep them. KEEP THEM!! I only came to watch for feck's sake. (I didn't actually use that word)(church and all that) Anyway, I now have my own set of bowls. Not only that. The next night I went along I found out that I had been picked for the team against another church team. On my second only ever attempt at the game I was picked to represent the Abbey Bowling Team. Not bad for a total novice. Needless to say I was totally useless. we won anyway but definitely without my input.
Another thing that has taken interest recently is my family tree. It is something that I have want'd to look into before it's too late and all the elder members of my family are no longer able to remeber or are dead.
Guess what? I have already found out that i have a great great aunt that was 'sent to prison' and also a great great uncle who was 'packed off to Australia'. Imagine. And their's me thinking that I come from a decent family. Huh. I am looking forward into finding out what was behind these two relitives that have sullied the family name. I am sure it will turn out to be really good. Tell you later if I have any luck. Oh! There is also a lovechild somewhere along the line. No one knows who the father is/was.
It's amazing how many skeletons one can dig up if they look hard enough. I have always wanted to go to Australia. Maybe this is the ideal time to go. I could well have a large family out there that I never knew about.
Just think. If I found them I could maybe complete my Australian Rolling Stones collection. I still have a few gaps there to fill.
I could also tell them all about their family back in good old northern Ireland.
Not much else to report at the moment.
Going out for lunch with little sister next week. Looking forward to it. I have also just received my first invitation to a Christmas Party. It's November for feck's sake. who plans that far ahead. I still have to find the ideal most wonderful fantastic gift for the woman of my life. I also have to buy something for my wife!!!!
Joke there (just in case my wife is reading this)

Again-----no ne naw ne naw
Yes, yet again there was no ne naw ne naw. The only difference this time was it wasn't me that needed it. It was my daughter. I was just there to keep her company in the back of the ambulance. We were sitting at the dinner table having our dinner (what else would we eat at a dinner table)(if it was the breakfast table it would be the breakfast table)(have I got a table in my house that changes its name depending on the meal?)Anyway, my daughter had made this lovely dinner for us and we had just sat down and started to eat when she got up and ran into the kitchen saying thump my back in a rather unusual voice. A bit like Darth Vadar/Dalek Master mixed together. You know what I mean. Anyway the outcome was no ne naw ne naw. She had choked on a king prawn and althopugh she puked her guts up there was still something stuck where it shouldn't be.
After a few hours we went home. They didn't really do anything to her. No X-Ray, no doctor examining her. Just looked at from afar.(Before i got on the ambulance I grabbed hold of my book and reading glasses. Remember I have had plenty of experience in this matter)
Today my daughter has vowed never ever never to eat king prawns ever again. (I think Paisley once said something along those lines towards Sinn Fein)
Because of all this we never got on the bus for our planned trip to some massive big hugemongus shopping centre in the south. It doesn't really matter. It saved me a load of money. Although I enjoy shopping there isn't really anything that I want at this particular moment.
Also today, I had a bit of a controtom with a large computer shop that goes by the name of------PC (not fix it) WORLD. Yes indeed folks, if you want your PC fixed keep well away from PC not fix it WORLD.
Here is the scenario. While i was away last month in Canada the PC at home ceased to function properly. My wife took it to PC not fix it WORLD to get it not fixed. For this pleasure they charged her £49.99 including VAT. She brought the PC home and set it up again. It nearly worked for a while. It was taken back to PC NOT FIX IT WORLD. This time they wanted between £30 & £50 pounds to not fix it .
I went in today with all the paperwork with me. I showed said papers to young guy at desk. I said what I had to say to him as pleasantly as possible.
Quote "You charged my wife nearly £50 to fix this PC. You have not fixed it. I want my wife's money back or you fix it."
Him "I didn't fix it sir"
Me " I know that. I am referring to PC WORLD"
He disappeared for a minute or 10 and came back.
Him " I have just spoken to the manager and he says he will refund your £50 as long as you buy the parts (costing between £30 & £50) We will then download and fix everything for you FREE of charge"
At this time I noticed that the manager never made a single appearence at the counter
I informed the young man that it didn't matter. At this point I told him how disappointed I was of the treatment my wife had been given by the company. I also informed him that I would take my PC home. i also informed him that I will buy a new PC. I also informed him that I will never buy a PC from PC World. (Don't forget folks, they charge you for NOT fixing your PC. I wonder if they don't charge you if they DO fix it?
Something else big happened today. We had to light the fire as it is so bloody cold. It is sooooo nice to be able to sit in the lounge next to a nice log fire.
Gotta go now. My programme is coming on. Robin and Marianne won't wait for me. The nasty old Sherriff might get hold of them. They need my support. I'm the guy who warns them when they have to look out behind them. You know what I mean.
At the same time as I am writing this have been bidding on a promo copy of the cd single that has been taken from the recently released Mick Jagger compilation album. Guess what? I have just been informed that I HAVE WON THE THING. For £10. Last month it was going for over £100. It pays to wait.
I will go now so that I can run round the room whooping and a wailing with sheer joy.
I am out of puff now. I forgot that I can't run anymore. It's a strange sensation to go round the room at a pace thinking that you are actually running. In future I will try starting a Mexican Wave. My wife and I would look so cool doing that. Just the 2 of us. Maybe when my daughter and son are here we could all do it. Somehow I don't think I can get the dogs trained to get involved. Besides, they don't like my taste in music.
Ta ta for now

Hint Hint
someone mentioned the other day that it was only so many days to Xmas. Everybody is panicking about what to buy for others. Me. I have all my gift buying done bar my wife. Any ideas anybody out there???
As for me. I usually only want peace and goodwill to all. I never get it but there is no harm in asking. This year is different though. This year I want a BOOK. Not just any old book. I WANT the 1,000 page double volume of the entire life works of that GREAT GREAT MADMAN himself. Don Martin. He is the man that I grew up with in comicland. Never mind The Beano / The Dandy / Superman / Batman / Spiderman etc etc. MAD MAGAZINE was the one and only comic for me. Even today I still read it when I see it on the news stands. Don Martin was the greatest cartoonist around. He is the man who inspired the creators of The Simpsons and Southpark and many other cartoonists of today.
This book is available from Amazon.com not co.uk but .com. I have left many hints around the house. Even verbal ones. Like time is running out etc etc.
We will have to wait and see. If I don't get this wonderful tome then I will just have to buy it myself after Xmas and not speak to anyone for a long time.
I don't need socks or underwaer or clothing of any kind. I don't really have a sweet took. I don't use aftershave. No, I don't need that CD or that book either. Just the Don Martin will do me fine.
Today I am taking a day off work. I don't really know why. I woke up this morning and tried to get up. I couldn't. I just felt totally fecked. Something happened to me during the night. i think I had a hypo but I am not sure. If I did I don't remember it. I have felt like this all day. No joke at all. This is the part of being a diabetic that I hate the most. But as always, There is always someone out there who is worse off. Thinking that helps me to keep myself sane. Well, most of the time.
A few weeks ago I took up the art of indoor bowls. I have now been 3 times and I find that I really am enjoying myself. Although i am probably the youngest person there it is still great fun. I even bowled in a competition last week. Only the once, but actually in it. I was told I did well. I think they were trying to be nice to me. Maybe in 10 years from now they will let me bowl in the whole competition!!!
On Friday night last we all went, (the nursery all) for an Indian. One of the Volunteers was leaving to go home to Canada in a very roundabout way. It was great fun. The food was good. Then after, we went to the pub, of course. The drink was good. Then they ran out of pure orange. I had to change my drink. I actually had to start drinking my Vodka with coke instead. Imagine.
The other great piece of news this week is of course the release of a new (well nearly new) rolling Stones album. It is a rehash of one of their earlier compilation albums done many years ago. It was never released on CD before, until now. It is also on Jakebox as well. It is also on USB as well. It is also in a 4 LP Boxset as well. It is a great piece of work. This is a piece that will be kept sealed and put into the collection. Except maybe for the USB format. That means I can have it in my pocket to play nearly anywhere. Great, innit!!!
I will go for now. I have to find somewhere new to place my Mad Magazine so that everyone in the household will spot it. (open at the correct page of course)
Cheers
